First Prize Winner The Shambaugh Room photo George Potter
FIRST ANNUAL DUNCAN HALL PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS
Duncan Hall has stood as an historic landmark at 619 Ferry St. in downtown
Lafayette since 1931. For those nearly eight decades it has been a source
of fascination and inspiration for generations of photographers. The First
Annual Duncan Hall Photo Contest photo shoot was scheduled for Sunday, May
3, 2009.
A panel of judges has selected the winners. First, second and third prize
winners will receive gift certificates to Berry’s Camera Shop and a high
quality print of their photo from Color Tech. First prize is a $100.00
certificate and a 16’ X 20” print.
The first prize winner is George Potter, who took a photo of The Shambaugh
Room (above) He is a Graphics Arts students at Purdue and a member of the
Purdue Camera Club. (

Second Prize winner The Secret Garden photo Lea Foster
The second prize winner is Lea Foster. Her photo was of the Secret Garden

The third prize winner is Brittany Jacobs, who photographed the Thomas
Duncan Room. (532-8928)
Honorable mentions winners are Lea Foster, with a Grand Ballroom photo of
the Grand Piano. The other Honorable mention was Andrew Adams with a photo

The photos will be on display at Duncan Hall for two weeks, beginning June
14, which is the One Year Anniversary of Sarah’s Dance. They also will be
