Dance Fall Finale
Sarah’s Dance will again celebrate fall on Sunday, November 8, 2009. The
Jim Alkire Dance Band with Aura Lee will perform in The Grand Ballroom
at Duncan Hall from 3 to 6 pm. This dance is sponsored by Dick Krieg
Motors, Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac and GMC located on US 421 West in
Delphi, Indiana as well as MBAH Insurance, 2663 Duncan Road, In
Lafayette
The live music will be preceded by a free ballroom dance lesson from
2:30 to 3:00 provided by The Ever Extraordinary Elizabeth Hendrickson of
The Camelot Dance Club. The Dance of the Month she will be teaching is
The Rumba. Beginners are welcome!
Jim Alkire (765 448-6257) has been leading musical groups in this area
for over 40 years. He plays drums and is joined by a who’s who of local
players: Al Jones, trumpet; Paul Addison, trombone, Lynn Oberholtzer,
guitar and banjo; Lynn Colwell, bass. The vocalist is Aura Lee Emsweller.
The newest addition to the band is the very talented tenor sax and
clarinet player, Jake Noparstak. He is featured with the Purdue Jazz
Band and is a Doctoral candidate in Mathematics. (224-612-1826.)
Reservations are recommended. A limited number of tables for eight or
four may be reserved. Admission is $8.00, $6.00 for students. All ages
are welcome.
Sarah’s Dance was established to support the historic preservation of
Duncan Hall as well as the hall’s educational programs promoting
citizenship, civility and character. In June, the dance celebrated its
one year anniversary, however this will be the last Sarah’s Dance. Keep
tuned for special, themed, upcoming ballroom dances.
